Welcome to Insight, this isn’t just another TV talk show. We focus on Texas, and only Texas. Did you know that our population is growing so fast that we’ll get four – count’em – 4 – new seats in the U.S. Congress in 2010? Hot Dawg! Did you know that we also have the highest number of high school drop-outs, that we’re number one in teen pregnancies, and we have some of the highest healthcare premiums and highest number of uninsured in the country?

Yet people and businesses are flocking to our great state in record numbers because we have no state income tax and very affordable housing. We’re a right-to-work state (no unions, please) so we’re real business-friendly, as they say. Our state legislature only meets every two years and we elect our judges – we’re real proud of that. We’ve amended our State Constitution so many times that most of us have lost count.

And we’ll bet you didn’t know that our Governor is working hard to push through what many claim is a NAFTA superhighway from the Mexican border all the way to Kansas City. And while he’s at it, he’s fast-tracking the construction of nuclear reactors and coal-burning plants.

Mary Beth a trial attorney, retired Army wife with two sons serving on active duty – the oldest is in Iraq again, a proud grandma, part-time college professor, and businesswoman. Mary Beth has also been known to tilt at windmills. In 2006, she was the only Democratic woman to run against a Republican incumbent in Texas for the US House of Representatives – in George W. Bush’s backyard. And no, she did not win.
