People are Talking about “Insight”
I enjoyed your Insight program last night on KNCT. It was the first for me to see. I liked the topic: the approaches and selection criteria for the represented news media–television, print news, and radio talk show. Your chosen people to reflect those news vehicles was excellent as well. The three ladies demonstrated very well their experience and knowledge of their respective crafts. And they were engaging personalities.
Your clips of off-the-street (or should we say out-of-the-restaurant!) people was an interesting way of directing the program content and also grounding it in, for the most part, real life perceptions. On the face of it, talk shows might seem to be “fly by the seat of your pants.” It was informative to hear Ms. Anderson tell how topics for the daily programs was purposely selected with a sense for its interest quotient to the listeners, and then the range of topics for the day were pushed through to keep things moving and listeners plugged in.
I have to say that usually, just a little bit of Lynn Wooley on any particular day is enough for me. It is the same for me of Rush Limbaugh. Rush has great ideas and argues his points so well; but his pomposity, when it is unleashed, urns me off, and I turn him off. Similarly, I like Lynn’s thinking and he has some interesting guests, but he can also get too cutting and strident in his statements for me.
I have always enjoyed KXXV newscasts and Ann Harder, so it was interesting to hear her tell how news stories are selected and followed.
Although I don’t read the Killeen paper very often, it was good to “meet” Ms. Pena and learn what she does and how she sees newspapers finding their place among the other news venues. And I always appreciate hearing a professional person cknowledging the importance to them of their faith, as Ms. Pena did at one point.
I have enjoyed your calmer, more reflective style on the radio this week, Mary Beth. You have things to say and nice insights; its more like you hold them out to be taken or nottaken, rather than thrusting them at us. I prefer that style.
Good program. I’ll watch again.

I was in Canada during the initial broadcast of your show, “Insight”. I’m glad to have caught tonight’s rebroadcast. I know this is such an exciting and rewarding time for you and your crew.
As a fellow female radio/tv personality myself, I want to thank you for having the vision and energy to embark upon such an endeavor. Although currently a lawyer, you still “keep hope alive” for many women in the area, myself included.
Even though the KISD School Board elections are over, my interest and advocacy for our youth has not ceased. I hope to be a guest on a future show to share my passion and commitment to the future generations in Central Texas and communities around the world.
Once again, I applaud your efforts and look forward to many more timely and interesting “Insight” shows. I’ll keep sneaking a peak at your future show topics on your website.
